![]() ![]() And maybe Pink wanted Gems to choose to fight rather than just obey her orders which arguably would have happened had she fought as Pink. Obviously she didn't think about the consequences and how much faking her shattering would hurt the other Diamonds and thus doom the Earth, but again, Pink is impulsive. I think becoming Rose was just as much about liberating herself from the Diamonds' expectations as it was liberating the Earth. And we know she didn't really care much for the pomp and circumstance of Diamond life. Her Rose persona was initially just a way to sneak off and have fun, but I think she enjoyed being on-par with her subjects instead of watching them suck up to her as a Diamond. She probably thought she couldn't accomplish anything as Pink even though logically she actually could, but Pink isn't known for rational, logical thinking. She did try to talk with them about sparing the Earth but once again nobody cared. All her life, all she's ever experienced is being blown off/scolded by all 3 Diamonds, even Blue. I think Pink feels trapped being a Diamond. I'll just copy/paste some of what I wrote in an earlier thread. I don't agree, but it was a fun take on it. I know this one guy on Youtube theorized her whole rebellion was just a passing fancy and she was a terrible floozy who wanted to screw around with human guys and viewed Earth as a fun experiment. Honestly there are some really fascinating theories on Pink. That's not something that can be easily forgiven- I mean, the characters in the show never exactly forgave her. She's a traitor, a liar, and in some ways, a coward, but she's also a loving mother who's fun and sweet to hang around, and who did many great things for the ones who loved her. She got so close to finally admitting her own faults and learning how to change, but she never did. And that's the real tragedy of her character. Rebecca also described Rose's decision to have Steven as both outrageously selfless and outrageously selfish at the same time, and that both things are true at once. Rose wants all those things so badly, but she can't really accomplish any of that until she accepts herself- and she never does." As Rebecca Sugar put it, "The show is so much about honesty and trust and being able to grow and change. While it is true that your past doesn't have to define you, you have to be able to be able to acknowledge it so you can grow as a person. Rose got very close to spilling her deepest darkest secrets about her past, but Greg's own denial of his past played a part in his response, that she didn't need to tell him that because in his eyes, her past didn't matter. In the new artbook that was released, it was stated that Greg confronted Rose in a way that no one else ever could, as an equal. She's a complicated person who never learned to be honest with herself, never truly redeemed herself.
